You might want to hold onto your seat belts, because The Small Square has a rocket ship that will zoom you back into the 90s. Don’t worry though; the members of the band Paul Chastain (from Velvet Crush) and John Louis Richardson, (most notably from Gin Blossoms and Badfinger) are your tour guides. Their 11 track, self-titled debut album starts off with the song So Low, which has an acoustic, fun loving tone that really sets the mood for the rest of the album. Moving down the track list, Otherwhile, is one of the many rock oriented songs off the album that is one of those haunting tunes ready to get in your head and stay there all the time. My favorite little ditty is the last track titled The Trip. As the name pretty much gives it away, the track has a psychedelic rock groove and the relaxing singing by Chastin that really entraps you and takes you on, quite possibly, a trip of your own. If you stay a bit after, I heard there’s even a treat at the end, but this is our little secret.
