For over a decade, Calgary's post-punk trio Ultrviolence have been building it's moody sound in basements with battered instruments, clusters of electric cables, and blinking electronics. With writing and recording their own material using as little reliance of external influence, their progressive sound is the augmentation of the dark wave foundation, echoing from hours of prairie solitude.

On May 13th, Ultrviolence will be releasing their newest EP, Black Sea, via Northern Light Records. The band has released their first single "Better Learn How To Swim" last month which sounds like Sasosin met Tim Burton and they decided to remake the music of The Corpse Bride by throwing in elements of Psycho. Following close is their second single "Radiation", which by listening to it is quite like falling down the rabbit hole while watching Rocky Horror Picture Show and Donnie Darko playing at the speed of light.

Ultrviolence is definitely a band for all of our dark souls to congregate together divulging on horror films.
