Ep/ Album: While You Wait Release Date: 4/8 Stream This: Believe That Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Travis Mills fourth EP While You Wait was released on Friday April 8th. The EP consist of 6 tracks, giving fans a sneak peek of what he's been up to over the past two years, as well as some insight to he has got in mind for new his new album and it's process. Travis brings back his hip hop influences while adding some R&B like vibes to While You Wait, while his last album All I Wanna Do fell into the world of pop. With “Believe That” starting of the EP track list giving us vibes we'd expect from The Weekend, Travis created a catchy tune that’ll have you hooked immediately. “she said she hasn't done this before, I don't believe that. She said she don't miss me anymore, I don't believe that. She said she ain't got nobody else, I don't believe that.” Followed by “I Doubt It” featuring some heavy hitters Blackbear and Skizzy Mars who both are becoming increasingly more and more popular. Starting off with some vocals from Blackbear, Travis following with his rhyme game of verses like “I doubt it gave you something and you can't live without it. We hit some bumps in the road, no way around it”. Skizzy Mars adding in his flare of rap at the end. Third track in Buzzin’, Travis continues to stay on track in continuing with the vibes of The Weekend with a surprise of a raspy few lines about 50 seconds into the track. This is something we haven't heard from him before. Travis makes use of the sound of a phone vibrating throughout the the whole song. In the slowest two songs off the EP, Trouble feat Lil’ Aaron and Hangover, you hear Travis singing more. Hangover is extremely catchy and the lyrics are easily mastered after a listen or two. As Travis showcases more of a club vibe. “The reason, the reason I get fucked up every night is so you can hear my body in the morning.” Favorite, is the last of his songs and is the most anthem like with hip hop influenced artists featuring Ty Dolla $ign, Lunchmoney Lewis and K CAMP With While You Wait being only 6 tracks Travis has showcased his hip hop influences and radio like tracks. As his fan base grows and he continues to find his sound 2016 could be his year. I'm looking forward in hearing “While You Wait” in its entirety during his tour.
