As a frequent lipstick wearer, I am always on the search for that one lipstick that will have a vibrant, no smear, and long wear colour. As luck would have it, my good friend pointed out Jeffree Star's velour liquid lipstick collection.
At first I browsed the site and nearly shat my pants. $18 for a tube of lipstick?! It didn't even seem worth it, so I passed. A few weeks later, my friend showed me her tube called Androgyny that she got while at the Self Help festival. I tried it on and couldn't believe my lips.
Androgyny is one of Star's most popular colours, as it sells out very frequently, and after smacking my lips together with a fresh coat I understood why. The colour itself is a beautiful nude, perfect for anyone wanting a subtle almost natural look, or just to have something gracing your lips while on a morning date for coffee or just to head out for work.

After trying Androgyny, I caved and purchased my own tube called Weirdo. I love bold colours and as of late I have been really wanting to wear more black lipsticks. I made several purchases of blacks including, creams, sticks, other liquids, and have not found the perfect black! As I browsed the website once more, I found that every colour I really wanted was sold out, except for Weirdo. I decided it was fate, even after the several hesitant pauses, I finally hit submit. The shipping was amazingly fast. I ordered on a Tuesday and when I checked my mail that Saturday, I was pleasantly surprised to see my package had arrived.
As I applied Weirdo to my lips, I was very hesitant on how it would look. Many blacks that I have ever worn either go purple, or just don’t seem to be as vibrant and fade quickly.

However, as soon as I put on a single swipe, I was very happy. The colour didn't smudge and to my surprise it didn't bleed outside of my lip line, the colour came off my teeth almost instantly, (side note, all of the velour liquid colours are so gentle, many make-up artists and amateurs have also used them as eyeliners!) and once it dried completely, it went matte and it didn't get all over my cup like many of my other lipsticks tend to do. The wand is probably my favorite, because it has a small divot that makes it much easier to apply the colour without messing up. Another thing to note is, during an 8-hour shift at work, I only had to reapply the colour once, mainly in the center, and to make matters even better, as I have a horrible not so good habit of falling asleep with my make-up on, the colour literally did not smear off while I slept.

The one and only down side that I experienced with my Weirdo colour is, it began to seep through the side every time I removed the wand to apply. Thankfully, the wonderful customer service I received once I mentioned what was going on, really made the downside a much more pleasant moment.
I am truly amazed with the quality of Jeffree Star Cosmetics. In the future, I hope to build my own collection of all the shades, especially with the new shades, Scorpio, Gemini, Rich Blood, and Rose Matter that are being released soon. Plus, I hope to finally add the very
delicious velour lip scrubs (which are edible) to my collection to ensure that my lips are prepped for the stunning liquid lipstick.
Jeffree Star is also expanding his cosmetic line with a beautiful selection of Highlighting Frost Powders due out later this month, along with Lipstick Ammunition with more information and release coming soon.
For anyone who is looking for a new long lasting lipstick, I HIGHLY recommend shelling out the $23 on these velour liquid lipsticks. I can almost guarantee that you will fall in love with one swipe!
