As the biggest stars in Hollywood gather together in one place, wearing the glamorours of dresses and the glitziest of jewelery, we who don't get to go are participating in our own preperation for the Academy Awards.
In fashion of most others, here are our predictions of who will be taking home one of the golden statues.
Best Picture:
TERINEY KEYSER The Revenant – So far this movie has been taking home almost every award it has been up for. I see the Oscar being no difference. KAT ECKERSON Mad Max: Fury Road– As much as I hope that The Revenant takes home the Best Picture, I have a feeling that Mad Max is going to take it home. For me I felt like the film was nothing special, and to be honest, I was not impressed, but the Academy was.
Actor in Leading Role:
TK Leonardo DiCaprio – I feel like this is DiCaprio’s year, finally. He won big at the BAFTA’s for his role and hopefully that good luck will stick with him right to the big night.
KE Leonardo DiCaprio – I'm on Teriney’s side with this one. Not only did he take home a BAFTA for his performance, he also took home a Golden Globe and a SAG award. However, I feel like the universe is going to be cruel and give it to...Matt Damon? Actress in Leading Role:
TK Jennifer Lawrence – While the movie itself might not have done well with reviews and critics, Lawrence’s performance was terrific and she did a great job playing Joy Mangano.
KE Brie Larson – As much as I feel that JLaw may possibly take home the Oscar, I really hope that Brie Larson will end up with the lovely golden statue for her wonderful and brilliant performance in Room. This is Brie’s first nomination. If she doesn’t end up winning, I can also see Cate Blanchett going home with the Oscar. Actor in Supporting Role:
TK Tom Hardy – With his role in Revenant being so well done, and the movie bring home all the awards, I have high hopes that Hardy will be taking home his first academy award.
KE Mark Ruffalo – If I am being completely honest, I am not impressed with the nominees for Actor in a Supporting Role. However, since I have to pick someone, I’m really pulling for Mark Ruffalo in his performance for Spotlight.
Actress in Supporting Role:
TK Rachel McAdams – McAdams’s may only be a supporting role in Spotlight, but she was amazing as reporter Sasha. You can physically see her hard work of studying and making sure to get every detail correct of Sasha’s life on screen.
KE Jennifer Jason Leigh – I 100% disagree with Teriney. Anyone who saw the Hateful Eight saw how wonderful (yet minimal) Jennifer Jason Leigh’s performance was. The amount of punches to the face and the pure and real reaction to Kurt Russell demolishing an authentic, historical, and priceless 1800’s Gibson guitar, was perfect! Animated Feature Films:
TK Inside Out –Since the release of this cute animation, viewers are starting to release how something so little or big can reflect our emotions and how our feelings can change our output on life.
KE Inside Out – I really don’t want another Disney flick to win, but Inside Out was definitely a truly inspiring film.
