KESHA vs Sony and Dr. Luke :

Bands and fans alike see the Internet, and Twitter specifically, get into frenzies about everything. However, this weekend had a lot to actually be upset about. On February 19, people were rightfully upset about the New York City court not granting pop artist Kesha the injunction to end her contract with her producer, Dr. Luke and record label Sony, after alleging claims that the producer physically and sexually absued her. She was visibly upset in court when the judge in New York denied her request. Fans who had gathered outside the courthouse, chanted lyrics to her song “Warrior”. Immediately after the decision was announced, the hashtag on Twitter “#FreeKesha” circulated with big names in music also standing up in support of the pop artist. At the present moment, fans are setting up campaigns to boycott Sony, as well as petitions online to try and free Kesha. This is not the end of her fight. In the coming weeks she has more court hearings to get out of her contract, all while fighting a counter-suit by Dr. Luke claiming defamation and breach of contract.

SKATE MALOLEY vs Webster Hall Security :

Late night on February 20, rappers Skate Maloley and Derek Suh were assaulted by security at Webster Hall in New York City, after attempting to defend fans that were getting hit and tazed by concert security guards. Thanks cell phones and the kids who were recording at the concert when the chaos erupted, there are videos all over the Internet and on many major gossip sites of the attacks. Skate has said he’ll be back to NYC on the next tour, despite the terrible outcome of this last concert. He was visibly upset, following the altercation and walked out of the venue screaming “I don’t know how they could do that to my family.” Kids standing near by yelled back, “We love you Skate!” Check out the video below.
