Hailing from Enid, Oklahoma, Fossil Youth is one band that you probably haven’t heard of but is on their way up to indie fame. Starting in 2011, singer Scottie Noonan was looking for a full band to collaborate with, and after lineup changes, he found the people who make up Fossil Youth, Derek, Hesston and Zack. The quintet started to create their emo/indie sound, which can be musically compared to Balance and Composure, Citizen, and Turnover.

Since they have only been a band for 4 years, they have progressively been working hard releasing music and touring across the U.S. The name Fossil Youth is important because it’s a reminder to not lose who you are in the process of new experiences and opportunities, which they have definitely experienced. Their first release was a spit with alternative band Wickerwolves. Their aggressive and passionate lyrics establish their emo sound.

Earlier this year, they were picked up by Take This To Heart Records and released their most recent work, Intertwined With You. This EP has been their most personal release yet with the writing and recording process including everyone’s input and making it all a collaborative effort. Lyrically, the EP sheds light on personal issues Scottie and Derek (bass) have gone through, ranging from relationship to family issues, which a lot of people can relate to. The overall theme of the EP is the “childless love that you can’t ever attain” which is why there are two confused children representing Intertwined With You.

Fossil Youth did their first full U.S. tour as support for Grey Gordon of Wickerwolves, which helped them expand their fan base. Recently, Fossil Youth wrapped up their east coast tour with Daisyhead and played their first festival show at The Fest.

Don’t worry if you didn’t get to see them this year, there will be plenty of touring in Fossil Youth’s future following their first LP, due to be released early 2016.

Fossil Youth is: Scottie:Vocals | Derek:Bass | Zach:Drums | Hesston:Guitar
