The wait is finally over, The Neighbourhood have finally released their sophomore album, Wiped Out! The album was released on Oct 30th via Columbia Records. The band had already released three tracks of the album, “R.I.P 2 My Youth,” “The Beach” and “Prey”, to give the fans a taste of what is to come.

Great things need a moment of silence to take in and appreciate what is all to come, and this album is no exception. The opening track is titled, “A Moment of Silence” which is 30 seconds of time to prepare yourself of what great art is about to enter your ears, as if you have not waited enough.

All the songs on this album follow an atmospheric indie sound with lyrics revolving around the personal triumphs of singer, Jesse Rutherford. Songs such as “Baby Came Home 2/ Valentine” and “Single” add acoustics and intimacy to the album while songs like “Ferrari” and the album titled track “Wiped Out!” contrast that sound with up-beat melodies. However all the songs cohesively fit together into the black and white puzzle that The Neighbourhood has created.

Stated in an interview, “we wanted the album to have a beach theme to it, we recorded it in Zach Abels’s house in Malibu.”(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0m28Gw7wqs) The title of the album also revolving around the beach theme as if “one was being refreshed by the ocean and washing ashore with a new mentality.” This new album definitely demonstrates the (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0m28Gw7wqs) laid back, chill vibe that comes with a day at the beach and takes listeners to black and white paradise.
