I don’t need to sign a piece of paper to let you know I love you. For what commitment lies in a signature that my lips haven’t already told you? For a group of people to hear an exclamation of “I do” has no bearing on any thoughts I have toward you. A celebration of love they say? Well, we celebrate every day. And I don’t need a white wedding dress to represent a walking debt even if it’s financed. Just like we don’t need wrapped boxes of toasters and plates to say “congrats, what a special date.” Yet weddings seem to be all the rage despite the fact they’re on a political stage. But I don’t need to sign a piece of paper to let you know I love you. For what commitment lies in a signature that my lips haven’t already told you?
