I would like to begin part two of this opinion piece, with a “Thank you” to my friend who sold me tickets! I had a blast seeing Twenty One Pilots at Comerica Theater, I was closer to the stage, by any annoying groups, and one of my best friends joined my this time around.
Beginning the night was a bit rough. My best friend and I had a hard time finding a parking garage for a reasonable price and we ended up paying fifteen dollars for parking. However, the garage was right across the street from the venue. By the time we got there, the line was gone so we were able to go straight in, we had our got the tickets printed out, received our wristbands and down to the pits we went. We got down to the pits less than five minutes before Finish Ticket came on stage. Just like at the Salt Lake City show, they were amazing. The energy was contagious; everyone was jumping and singing along. I was surprised to discover that Finish Ticket has only been to Phoenix one other time.
After Finish Ticket’s set came the band Echosmith. I felt like their set was a bit longer, but maybe it was because I knew what to expect song wise, and was just waiting for “Bright” to be performed yet again. Just like my sister, my friend did not know any of the songs. I was just pleased she knew some songs by TOP!
It was finally time. Tyler and Josh did not disappoint this time around. In part one, I had a lot of negative things to say, not about the show, but the crowd. This time around, I have nothing but good things to say. The crowd was so energetic and considerate to others. My friend is kind of short, and the fans in front actually moved out of her way when they could. Most crowds will not consider others behind them, so it was pretty cool that this crowd did.
With Finish Ticket and Echosmith I felt like I was watching a rerun of the show, but with Twenty One Pilots I felt like I was living it for the first time. That is what every concert should be like, no matter how many times you see them.
Most importantly though, I stayed until the very end. I watched Tyler climb the pole in the middle of the theater to sing, I watched Josh climb back into the crowd to play, and I saw the confetti rain down on the pit. Instead of a fan going on stage to do the handshake, Tyler pulled a security guard on stage to talk to him. Hands down, this is a show I will not be forgetting. On top of my wristband and ticket, I have confetti for remembrances (I opted out on buying merchandise).
I am so grateful I bought the tickets, happy I went with my best friend, and extremely glad I had the best night in my hometown of Phoenix, Arizona.
