May 2014, founder and current Executive Chairman of the clothing line Nasty Gal, Sophia Amoruso, wrote a New York Times Bestseller called #GIRLBOSS. Since the release of the book, Amoruso has been on a whirlwind with all the new directions #GIRLBOSS has taken.
An example of one direction the new brand has taken is creating a foundation that grants women all over the world a financial award to start their own business. The #GIRLBOSS foundation is giving women an opportunity of a lifetime to be the greatest #GIRLBOSS within the design, fashion, arts, and music industry.
On top of the foundation, Amoruso is starting her own radio talk show that will be premiering October 22. A main segment to her show will be featuring guest hosts that have inspired women in the business world in some shape or form.
With the release of the second print of the book in September 2015, Amoruso set off on an 11-date book tour. The tour began in Jersey City, N.J. on September 28 and ran until October 11 in Portland, OR. During this tour, Amoruso talked about becoming a #GIRLBOSS and she answered many questions the audience had (within the allotted time), autographed each book (as some fans had multiples), and even took pictures with anyone who requested one. As a way to say “Thank You”, Amoruso handed out a gift card to Nasty Gal to the fans, and as another gift for signing up for her newsletter, you received a small tote bag.
#GIRLBOSS is all about empowering women to be the best they can be, in whichever direction they go in life. So, women of the world, tackle any difficult tasks ahead of you and be the best #GIRLBOSS you can be!
