There are some details in this article about the show,
which you may not want to read before watching.

If you’re looking for a hilarious murder mystery show that insults our generation, look no further! Tune in to Scream Queens, which airs Tuesday nights on Fox. For all those (like me) who don’t own a television, you can also catch Scream Queens streaming on Hulu after airing. Although Scream Queens only started this fall, I know that it’s going to be a series I follow for its entire run. The first four episodes of the series showcased how ridiculous and comical it’s going to be and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the entire season!
The first scene of the show is set in the year 1995 at a sorority house, where a girl is walking through a party with bloody hands. At first it seems like it might be a serious take on something that’s happened, but when she gets to her friends they simply say “Ew,” “What is that?” “That’s gross!” etc. not actually asking this girl if she’s okay. The girl finally tells her friends that it isn’t her blood and brings them upstairs to where there’s another girl in a bathtub, holding a baby. All the friends instantly become upset asking, “How could you do this?” “I can’t believe you had a baby at my party,” “This is going to ruin my party,” etc. not caring that this teenage girl just gave birth in a bathtub. The group of friends bickered for a bit until “Waterfalls” by TLC started playing through the speakers. This was when the friends got really worked up. They insisted that they didn’t want to miss “their jam” and said they would come back to deal with the baby issue once the song was over. They proceeded to leave the new mother and the first friend in the bathroom and to go enjoy listening to “Waterfalls”, shouting the lyrics with the other college students. Three minutes later, the friends return to the bathroom, notice the girl in the tub wasn’t moving and started panicking because they realize they let her die. Since they didn’t tend to their friend after she gave birth, she bled out in the bathtub.
I’m not sure about you, but within the first 10 minutes of the show I was HOOKED. I wanted to know what was going to happen. Did they call the cops? Did they say it was an accident? Technically they were at fault for neglect, but would these girls admit that? I had to know. Their witting conversation about not caring and making this birth a huge inconvenience was dark and funny.
Flash-forward 20 years to the sorority house in present day. No details were given about that night in 1995 until later in the series, after some killings have already taken place. See, the ‘Red Devil’ murderer is now targeting the sorority house, as they call him. The mystery is trying to find out who is committing the murders and why. The process of trying to unmask the killer leads to some causalties. The deaths are unforgiving, unrealistic, and horrible and can be a bit extreme. There’s one girl who gets her head run over by a lawnmower, there’s another who gets stabbed a few times but has to make a Facebook post about her murder before she dies, and another who gets his head chopped clear off while he’s wearing a mascot costume. All of these deaths are unrealistically captured on film and are more comical than horrifying. The absurd portrayal of these events is part of the appeal for this show.
There is no question; this show is not for everyone. You can’t take this show seriously because it’s not done in a serious way. It’s a light, funny, ridiculous take on a murder mystery and it’s an easy watch. Since the characters are so vain, you can focus on what’s happening in the show without feeling attached to them or worrying about who’s going to die next. You can just watch it and enjoy! I enjoy it so much because it’s comical and makes fun of all the insane things our generation is doing. It makes light of the idea that not everything needs to be on social media (like the Facebook post prior to dying). It’s a fun watch and I would definitely check it out if I were you.
