Brooklyn’s Secret Someones dropped their well-awaited self-titled album on October 2,2015. The album features ten tracks plus six bonus acoustic tracks that are beautifully

harmonized with perfectly blended instrumentals. The four members of the alternative band consists of: guitarist Bess Rogers, pianist/guitarist Hannah Winkler, basist Leila Broussard and multi-instrumentalist/drummer Zach Jones.
Opening the album is the fierce, pop-ballad infused track “I Won’t Follow” which delivers the message of not standing in the shadows of someone else or following in their lead. This extremely powerful song allows the band to tell their fans everywhere that you need to follow your own dreams. You should be independent, strong and be able to know what you want and go after it without someone leading the way. It’s empowering and a great start to Secret Someones. After hearing a message like that, how could you not want to hear more?
“Chase Your Dreams” is a slower song on the album and could be considered a darker piece compared to the others. The song provides such imagery, you can perfectly visualize the tale that Rogers, Winkler and Broussard sing about an unrequited love. While the song starts off slow to provide that dark feel, Jones adds power throughout the verses to really drive the overall message.
The fifth track “Headfirst” gives off a 90’s pop, techno and funky tone. This song will definitely have you reminiscing about the past and listening to it on repeat. Another solid song on the album is “Only One I Want” and while it starts off slow, the song builds giving it that edgy rock feel.
The multi-talented trio of vocalists, Rogers, Winkler and Broussard have perfectly crafted the art of harmonizing on each track. While listening to the album, you can tell their voices apart, yet at the same time hear them compliment each other with backup features. Their voices blend together so perfectly, it is amazing to listen to.
Overall, this album is lyrical strong with instrumental parts that are crisp and punctual with a polished feel. Secret Someones is an album that everyone should listen to, whether it’s to help get over a heartbreak or to dance around to.
The band is hitting the road this fall with fellow label mates, Marianas Trench, across the U.S. Be sure to check out their website for dates and to purchase tickets!
