As September comes to a close, it’s only going to get exciting as October kicks into full swing with a plethora of new films hitting theaters. From the live action remake of the 1980’s cartoon ‘Jem and the Holograms’ to the heart pounding ‘The Walk’, here are a look at the Top 10 Must See Films for October.

1. Freeheld - Julianne Moore, Ellen Page, Steve Carell

In this compelling story about a decorated police detective in New Jersey who was diagnosed with cancer, fights to list her domestic partner as her beneficiary for her pension. This film highlights the struggles of the gay community and their attempts at equal rights. Stand together on October 2nd.

2. Pan - Hugh Jackman, Garrett Hedlund, Rooney Mara

Director Joe Wright (“Pride & Prejudice”) is taking the helm with this new origin story on J.M Barrie’s story of the boy who never grows up. Newcomer, Levi Miller is set to play the beloved Peter Pan as he adventures to Neverland and encounters the infamous Blackbeard, (played by Oscar Nominee Hugh Jackman), a young Captain Hook (Garrett Hedlund “Tron” and “Unbroken”) and of course Tiger Lily (Rooney Mara “Side Effects” and “The Social Network”). Audiences are hoping to be transferred to an all new adventure with the lost boys on October 9th.

3. Steve Jobs - Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen, Jeff Daniels

The polarizing story of Apple co-founder, screenwriter Aaron Sorkin’s (“The Newsroom”) biopic focuses on the 1998 launch of the iMac. With Michael Fassbender (“Prometheus”) stepping into the shoes of Steve Jobs, critics are already praising the star studded cast featuring Seth Rogen, Jeff Daniels and Kate Winslet, as well as Danny Boyle’s (“127 Hours”) electric directing. Steve Jobs is out October 9th.

4. Crimson Peak - Mia Wasikowska, Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain

This 19th Century film takes place in an eerie mansion where an aspiring author is attempting to escape the ghosts of her past. She is swept away by a mysterious man and lives where her worst nightmares become a reality. Writer-director Guillermo del Toro’s film is sure to send chills down your spine on October 16th.

5. Goosebumps - Jack Black, Halston Sage, Odeya Rush, Dylan Minnette

90’s children rejoice! Jack Black is stepping into our childhood hero’s shoes, R.L Stine, in this new epic film that meshes a number of the stories that chilled us to the bones. Don’t forget to say cheese and die...on October 16th!

6. Room - Brie Larson, William H. Macy, Joan Allen

Room, adapted from the novel written by Emma Donoghue, centers around a boy who is forced to grow up in a windowless 10-by-10 foot space along with his loving mother Ma (Brie Larson). Director Lenny Abrahamson (“Frank”) tells a captivating story of a mother willing to do anything for the sake of her child...even if it means escaping and taking on the scariest thing known to them yet : the real world. Join their escape on October 16th.

7. Burnt - Bradley Cooper, Uma Thurman, Emma Thompson, Lilly James

The story of Chef Adam Jones (Bradley Cooper) committed to opening his restaurant in London after overcoming an addiction to drugs that already tarnished his career. In this comedic drama directed by John Wells, this all star film shows Cooper accompanied on-screen by Lily James, Uma Thurman, and Emma Thompson. This emotional story will show the love of food, the love between two people, but most importantly the power of second chances. Prepare to say "Yes Chef!" on October 23rd.

8. Our Band is Crisis - Sandra Bullock, Billy Bob Thornton, Anthony Mackie

Adapted from a documentary about the 2002 Bolivian presidential elections, Sandra Bullock (“The Blind Side”) stars in this political comedy/drama that centers on American politics and the strategies used in campaigns to help the South American candidates. Also stars Anthony Mackie, Zoe Kazan and Billy Bob Thorton. Enter the polls on October 30th.

9. Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse - Patrick Schwarzenegger, Blake Anderson, Halston Sage

This horror-comedy movie is solely focused on three scouts fighting zombies that are overtaking their small town. Halston Sage, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Blake Anderson brings to you violence, whole lot of foul language, but most of all laughs throughout the trials of killing zombies and growing friendships. Get ready to kill on October 30th.

10. Suffragette - Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter, Meryl Streep

This horror-comedy movie is solely focused on three scouts fighting Based out of the late 19th to early 20th century, Suffragette staring Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter, and Meryl Streep, tells the compelling story of the early feminist movement in Britain history. Writer, Abi Morgan, and director, Sarah Gavron give you insight on how women were forced into a life threatening game of watching and waiting, for the right to vote in a mans world...Stand with the women on October 30th!
